Our client based in Co. Wicklow is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of their growing business. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Director with strategic development and the performance of the finance function. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring a high-performing finance team, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and streamlining financial processes to enhance reporting efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborating with the Finance Director to support the performance and strategic development of the finance function.
* Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, as well as other financial reports for review.
* Managing checks and balances on nominal ledger accounts to ensure accurate month-end preparations.
* Overseeing payroll, supplier, and subcontractor functions.
* Leading and nurturing a high-performing finance team of 4 staff members, fostering a culture of growth and efficiency.
* Reviewing and authorising payment files through online banking platforms.
* Ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements across areas such as VAT, Tax, and other obligations in multiple jurisdictions.
* Preparing annual budgets and both short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts.
* Collaborating with the commercial department to verify the accuracy of rates used for project estimations.
* Preparing necessary documentation for external auditors during the annual audit process.
* Interfacing with third-party organisations, including external auditors, tax advisers, and global payroll advisers, as needed.
* Aligning financial strategies with long-term business goals, enhancing financial systems, and streamlining processes to improve reporting and efficiency.
* Driving Finance department KPIs and managing monthly financial reporting.
Person Specification:
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA)
* Proven experience in a similar role - Experience within the construction industry would be an advantage.
* Proven ability to manage and mentor teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Results-oriented, proactive, and commercially aware, with a strong commitment to integrity and continuous improvement.
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to analyse complex data and provide actionable insights.
* Excellent communication, supervision, and leadership skills.
* Highly proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
* A dedicated team player with a willingness to teach and mentor colleagues within the department and across the company.
* A full drivers licence
Must have experience within the Republic of Ireland.
