Position Summary
NeoDyne is seeking a highly experienced Process Automation Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the Tipperary based site.
This role supports a DeltaV migration project at an API manufacturing facility, acting as the key automation interface across engineering, operations, and QA. The successful candidate will lead DeltaV configuration, testing, and commissioning, ensuring systems align with manufacturing needs and GMP compliance. A strong grasp of batch control (ISA-88), process automation, and GAMP 5 is essential. This is a hands-on position within a highly regulated, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the process-automation interface for a DeltaV migration project, ensuring control strategies align with manufacturing and operational requirements
* Engage directly with process engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to translate process needs into DeltaV configurations
* Lead and support DeltaV configuration, testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and startup
* Provide input on control philosophy, batch strategy (ISA-88), alarm handling, interlocks, and fail-safes based on deep process understanding
* Support the development and review of documentation including FDS, SDS, URS, test protocols, and change controls
* Drive stakeholder alignment by clearly communicating control logic and functional behaviour in process-relevant terms
* Ensure system configuration meets all GMP, GAMP 5, Annex 11, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements
* Participate in training, knowledge transfer, and long-term automation support planning
Experience & Skills
Required
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Automation, or related field)
* 5+ years of automation experience in API or pharmaceutical manufacturing
* Proven, hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV in GMP environments
* Strong understanding of process operations, batch control, and manufacturing workflows
* Experience with:
* DeltaV configuration, testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and startup
* Developing and reviewing FDS, SDS, URS, test protocols, and change controls
* Compliance requirements: GMP, GAMP 5, Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11
* Strong communication skills to drive project momentum
* Ability to translate process needs into DeltaV configurations
* Experience engaging with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Desired
* Familiarity with ISA-88 and defining batch strategies
* Ability to define alarm handling, interlocks, and fail-safes based on deep process insight
* Experience participating in training, knowledge transfer, and long-term support planning
* Ability to communicate control logic in process-relevant terms (beyond just technical jargon)
