Environmental Compliance Specialist

Force Recruitment have partnered with one of the top pharmaceutical manufacturers who are on a look out for an Environmental Compliance Specialist for their oral solid dose facility in Cork.
As the title indicates, this role is definitely more on the environmental side of things and will report to the Environmental Operations Team Lead, who reports to the EHS Director for the site.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the company’s IED license, the greenhouse gas permit (when applicable) and other relevant legislation, and communicate with the EPA and other relevant regulatory bodies.
* Compile and submit environmental reports, such as AER (Annual Environmental Report) and EPR (Environmental Performance Reporting) to the environmental regulator.
* Maintain the site EMS (Environmental Management System).
* Manage the site F-Gas register, fugitive emissions programme as well as its groundwater programme.
* Ensure communications to regulators and corporate EHS as required and communication of relevant requirements to site functions (e.g. Production & Engineering).
* Involvement in other site programmes, including DGSA compliance, controlled substance compliance and ensure compliance with REACH regulations (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registrations, Evaluation, Authorisations and Restrictions of Chemicals).
Skills and Qualifications:
* Degree in a related discipline, such as Environmental Science, Physical Sciences or Engineering.
* At least 2-5 years’ experience in an environmental compliance role within a regulated industry, such as API manufacturing, the chemical sector or environmental consulting.
* Experience in interacting and communicating with environmental regulators.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation (incl. REACH, DGSA, Controlled Substances, etc.).
* Experience in compiling AERs (Annual Environmental Reviews).
* Strong organisational skills with a methodical approach to work.
* Strong communications skills with an ability to influence across all levels of the organisation.
* Excellent record keeping and attention to detail.
* Confident self-starter.
