Mental Health and Wellbeing Worker
Total Care Recruitment is assisting in hiring a Mental Health and Wellbeing Worker for a service in Belfast.
The successful candidate will provide mental health support and mentoring to children and young people aged 16-25, focusing on low mood, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide mental health support: Offer one-on-one and group support to young people, addressing their specific needs.
* Develop tailored support plans: Create individualized plans for each young person, incorporating their goals and aspirations.
* Maintain accurate records: Keep up-to-date records of support and safety plans, adhering to GDPR regulations.
* Collaborate with external agencies: Work closely with mental health services and social services to ensure comprehensive support for young people.
* Manage waiting lists: Prioritize young people's needs, offering telephone support during wait times.
* Promote social participation: Encourage young people to engage in group activities, reducing isolation and fostering social connections.
* Advocate for young people: Ensure their voices are heard and their rights respected, advocating on their behalf when necessary.
* SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to volunteers, empowering them to make a positive impact.

Person Specification:
* Essential Criteria:
o Experience: 1 year of experience working with children and young people (aged 16-25) who have mental health challenges, or a degree in Social Work, Youth and Community Work (or similar), plus at least 6 months of experience in a relevant role.
o Experience working with external agencies: Ability to collaborate effectively with external agencies to support young people.
o Experience in delivering group work: Proven track record of delivering engaging and effective group work sessions.
o Self-reflection and adaptability: Ability to reflect on own practice, receive feedback, and adapt to new information and guidance.
o Full driving license: Possession of a full driving license and access to a car insured for business use.
o NISCC Registration: Registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) or eligible for registration.
* Desirable Criteria:
o Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers: Previous experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers, promoting their growth and development.
