JOB SUMMARY
Are you a Quantity Surveyor who would like to play an integral role on mechanical engineering projects? My client is a leading Mechanical Engineering company who are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Kildare on a fulltime and permanent basis.
Reporting to the Estimating Manager and Project Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will work on one of our key projects. This role will be supported by and offer support to the wider QS team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to gain insights into project goals and objectives.
2. Prepare precise and detailed cost estimates for Mechanical and HVAC projects.
3. Utilise & develop estimating software and tools to ensure accuracy in cost calculations.
4. Consider factors such as materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overheads in estimating calculations.
5. Work closely within the QS/Estimating team to develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.
6. Present and justify cost estimates to internal stakeholders and clients
7. Source and evaluate potential vendors and subcontractors for cost competitiveness and reliability.
8. Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
9. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies affecting Mechanical and HVAC systems.
10. Continuously refine and improve estimating processes based on feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, and Procurement, to ensure seamless project execution.
12. Communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors to address queries and clarify project details.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
13. Possess a relevant 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
14. Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as a quantity surveyor within the construction industry, with exposure to commercial and industrial scale projects.
15. Have an interest in working within the Construction industry.
16. Have strong commercial awareness.
17. Be comfortable in your use of Microsoft Office, with the ability to generate detailed monthly reports.
18. Be conscientious, have excellent attention to detail and an ability to multitask.
19. Have a positive attitude with a passion to learn & succeed, an energetic approach and an ability to take accountability.
20. The ability to contribute comfortably as part of a team.
