Senior Project Editor - Educational Publishing
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Editor to manage their own programmes within an expanding list of primary and post-primary titles. This role offers flexible working, with the opportunity to work from home three days a week.
Job Description
The Senior Project Editor will be responsible for managing author relationships, liaising with designers, proofreaders, illustrators, copyeditors, subject matter experts, and junior members of staff associated with their projects. They will work on high-quality, highly designed titles complete with complex illustrations and diagrams, providing frequent updates on progress, identifying risks, and suggesting solutions.
Responsibilities
* Manage author relationships and own workload efficiently and skilfully.
* Liaise with designers, proofreaders, illustrators, copyeditors, subject matter experts, and junior members of staff associated with projects.
* Work on high-quality, highly designed titles complete with complex illustrations and diagrams.
* Provide frequent updates on progress, identify risks, and suggest solutions.
* Collaborate with the Editorial and Digital Teams, Commissioning, Production, and Sales Teams.
Requirements
* Proven editorial experience within publishing, ideally within educational publishing.
* Strong editorial skills with the ability to recognise and develop clear, concise, well-written, and grammatically correct material.
* Solid project management experience within an editorial environment.
* Strong organisational skills and proven ability to multi-task.
* The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a busy team.
* An interest in design, digital learning experiences, and multimedia, as well as an interest in education.
* Excellent IT skills (particularly MS Office and Word).
Desirable Skills
A knowledge of the Irish language would be an advantage but is not essential.
