Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Specialist
The Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHSS) Specialist acts as Surmodics' EHSS Specialist for Ireland facilities. This role serves as a subject matter expert on all company-related EHSS requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote a culture of EHSS excellence and provide high-quality EHSS technical knowledge.
* Lead day-to-day EHSS management and performance across the business.
* Carry out regular site audits/inspections and produce risk assessments.
* Evaluate EHSS KPIs and communicate results to management.
* Report, investigate, and close out accidents. Share lessons learned from incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safety procedures.
* Identify and control risks associated with company activities.
* Perform hazard and risk assessments for manufacturing equipment.
* Ensure equipment meets safety requirements.
* Comply with regulatory requirements for hazardous waste disposal.
* Coordinate response procedures for chemical spills and medical emergencies.
* Conduct training sessions for team members.
* Recommend safety standards and procedures in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
* Lead HSA audits and ISO14001 Environmental Management & ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
Requirements:
* Professional qualification in health & safety.
* 1-3 years' experience in health and safety.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
* Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software.
* Medical Device Experience is advantageous.
