Logistics General Manager – Transport Manager
€80,000+ per annum, plus benefits.
A highly rewarding leadership role is available with a well-established transport and distribution company in County Cavan. As the new Logistics General Manager – Transport Manager, you will lead and transform logistics operations, combining strategic oversight with hands-on management to drive operational excellence across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and implement comprehensive transport and logistics strategies aligned with business objectives.
o Identify market trends and new opportunities to expand operations and improve services.
o Drive cost-efficiency initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards in service delivery.
* Operational Excellence:
o Oversee all logistics and distribution activities, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
o Manage contractor relationships to achieve financial, logistical, and customer satisfaction targets.
o Optimise fleet performance, ensuring vehicles meet operational demands while remaining cost-effective.
* Team Leadership:
o Lead, inspire, and develop transport teams, fostering a positive and high-performing work environment.
o Ensure all employees are trained to the highest standards and fully compliant with health and safety regulations.
* Compliance and Risk Management:
o Guarantee compliance with RSA and other relevant transport and safety regulations.
o Develop risk management strategies to ensure business continuity and mitigate operational risks.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Work closely with other departments to align transport operations with broader company goals.
o Coordinate with customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries within KPIs.
* Performance Management:
o Analyse and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), using data to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
o Report on logistics performance to business owner, offering solutions for challenges and areas for growth.
o Ensure financial and P&L reports are done and communicated to business owners.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a senior transport management role or General Manager role, preferably within a logistics or distribution setting.
* A third-level qualification in transport management, supply chain, business administration, or a related field is desired.
* Strong IT capabilities, including proficiency in ERP systems and logistics software.
* Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
* Outstanding communication, organisational, and time-management abilities.
* A strategic mindset coupled with the ability to manage hands-on, fast-paced operations.
