Job Purpose
The purpose of the job is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development, and work opportunities for service users. To assist the Manager in the development, implementation, and delivery of quality customer-focused and cost-effective community services to service users at an appropriate time and setting. This includes the provision of individual programmes and activities to meet the needs, choices, and abilities of service users.
Minimum Education & Skills Required
1. A Third level graduate, health and social care equivalent
2. MAPA, Autism Awareness Training, Occupational First Aid, Manual Handling BA in a relevant field
3. Experience of working with adults with disabilities
4. Experience of the design and delivery of individual programmes for people with disabilities or those who are marginalized
5. Well-developed people management skills, with proven experience of building, leading, and motivating a team.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
1. Build trusting relationships and communication with service users, facilitating them to identify their goals, strengths, and needs. Support service users to establish and enhance their natural support circle.
2. Support service users to identify the community-based supports they would like to avail of and work with service users to identify practical solutions to any barriers to accessing these supports.
3. Provide service users with accessible information on available community-based supports, ensuring all activities and supports are monitored and maintained at an appropriate pace to ensure sustainability.
4. Advocate on behalf of and support self-advocacy for service users in a number of settings, including with family, HSE, community groups, etc. Development and completion of positive risk assessments.
Additional Requirements
1. Be action-oriented; enjoy working hard and seeking challenges with an ability to act and react as required, even in circumstances of limited/incomplete information.
2. Be flexible regarding working hours and travel in order to meet the operational needs of the service and organisation.
3. Flexibly adapt to take on other reasonable duties/projects if required by the CSM.
4. Full driving licence is preferable.
