About the job:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. This position requires a strong leader with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced environment.
About you:
* The candidate must be based in Ireland.
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior accounting role.
* Experience with ERP system implementation and BI is strongly preferred.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
* Experience in the construction industry preferred.
Your day-to-day activities:
Financial Reporting:
* Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with accounting standards. Own all aspects of month-end accounting including responsibility for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
* Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to management, investors, and other stakeholders.
* Analyse financial results and provide insightful commentary on key trends and variances.
Systems and process
* Develop and document accounting policies and procedures related to finance systems
* Manage any ERP changes, including requirements gathering, system configuration, data migration, testing, and user training.
* Ensure systems and processes provide timely data to support strategic decision-making and financial reviews
Internal Controls:
* Maintain and strengthen the company's internal control environment.
* Identify and assess financial risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
* Document and update accounting policies and procedures.
Tax Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including corporate tax, VAT, and payroll taxes.
* Manage tax filings and payments.
* Liaise with tax advisors and revenue authorities.
Audit:
* Manage external audit, ensuring timely and accurate provision of information to auditors.
* Implement audit recommendations to improve financial processes and controls.
Team Management:
* Manage the accounting team, providing guidance, professional development and support.
* Delegate tasks effectively and monitor performance.
* Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
