Job Overview
Hodson Bay Group is seeking a talented and creative Graphic Designer to join the Marketing Department on a 12-month maternity cover contract, focusing primarily on the development and promotion of Yew Point. Based at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone, you will report directly to the Group Content & Creative Manager. This role offers the opportunity to shape and define Yew Point's brand identity while also contributing to wider creative projects within the group.
Yew Point is an exciting new eco-tourism resort within the Hodson Bay Group, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about helping to craft and elevate its brand image. Much of this role will focus on developing and executing creative visual assets that reflect the essence of Yew Point, ensuring it stands out in the competitive hospitality industry. You will play a key role in designing marketing materials for campaigns, daily operations, and more, making a lasting impact on Yew Point's growth and presence.
While the primary focus will be on Yew Point, you will also provide support for other group-wide or individual hotel projects as required by the business. This flexibility will allow you to apply your creativity to a variety of exciting initiatives across the Hodson Bay Group.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Creation of Marketing Materials
* Focus primarily on designing and creating marketing materials for Yew Point, including digital assets, print collateral, signage, and in-house stationery.
* Ensure all materials meet the highest creative standards and align with Yew Point's brand identity.
* Collaboration & Brand Consistency
* Work closely with the Marketing team to develop visuals that reflect Yew Point's strategic plans.
* Contribute innovative ideas that enhance the visual identity & ensure consistency across the brand.
* Creative Input & Innovation
* Bring new and unique ideas to the design process, ensuring that designs reflect the spirit, personality, and target audience of Yew Point.
* Help develop engaging marketing campaigns that connect with Yew Point's customers and elevate its presence in the market.
* Quality Control & Brand Standards
* Ensure all design materials adhere to Yew Point's high-quality standards and maintain consistency with its visual identity.
* Provide attention to detail in all designs, ensuring they are professional and polished.
* Campaign & Operational Collateral
* Collaborate with the team to produce collateral for ongoing marketing campaigns, daily hotel operations, and special events.
* Maintain design consistency across all channels and platforms for a seamless brand experience.
* Support for Other Projects
* Provide design support for other group-wide or individual hotel projects, as needed by the business.
* Ensure designs meet the needs and standards of all properties within the Hodson Bay Group.
* Artwork Preparation & Proofing
* Prepare artwork for production, ensuring files are formatted correctly for print or digital distribution.
* Proof designs to ensure they meet quality standards before sending to production or digital release.
* Vendor Management
* Work with external vendors, such as printers, to ensure the final execution of designs meets the highest standards of quality.
* Maintain a productive relationship with vendors to guarantee timely delivery and quality results.
* Trend Awareness & Creative Enhancement
* Stay on top of industry trends & design techniques to continuously improve creative output.
* Integrate new ideas and innovative approaches to enhance visual impact and marketing effectiveness.
Requirements
* Educational Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
* Technical Skills
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), with a strong understanding of layout, typography, and branding principles.
* Knowledge of video editing, photography, and motion graphics is a plus.
* Portfolio & Design Skills
* A strong portfolio demonstrating creative design skills, with attention to detail and a solid understanding of brand consistency.
* Ability to create designs that are both visually appealing and on-brand.
* Collaboration & Communication
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
* Ability to receive constructive feedback to improve design quality and align with the brand vision.
* Attention to Detail & Time Management
* Excellent attention to detail, ensuring high-quality designs in all projects.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Print Production Knowledge
* Knowledge of print production processes and the ability to prepare artwork for various formats, ensuring the final product meets production standards.
* Hospitality Experience (Bonus)
* Previous experience in the hospitality industry or working on hotel-related marketing projects is an advantage, though not required.
