Abrivia seeks an experienced Senior Liability Underwriter to join our client, an established Managing General Agent (MGA) in Dublin City. This pivotal role within a dynamic team offers significant opportunities for professional development and influence over underwriting strategy.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technical underwriter, adept at crafting precise policy wordings and working with underwriting software to assess and manage complex risks.
Your Role:
* Technical Underwriting Expertise: Evaluate, underwrite, and price liability risks in accordance with the MGA's underwriting guidelines. Analyse exposures, determine appropriate coverage limits, and ensure profitability across a diverse portfolio.
* Policy Wording Development: Draft and refine technical policy wordings and endorsements to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with underwriting intent.
* Risk Assessment & Analysis: Conduct detailed risk assessments, utilising data analytics and underwriting software to support decision-making processes. Identify potential exposures and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
* Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of liability accounts, monitor performance, identify trends, and take proactive measures to optimise profitability and growth.
* Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with brokers and agents, providing technical support and expertise. Negotiate terms and conditions to secure profitable business in line with the company's risk appetite.
* Market Awareness: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes. Provide strategic insights to the management team to support business planning and decision-making.
* Underwriting Guidelines: Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of underwriting guidelines, ensuring they are robust, competitive, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
* Training & Mentorship: Mentor junior underwriters and team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster professional growth and a strong technical culture within the team.
Your Skills:
* Extensive Underwriting Experience: Proven track record in liability underwriting, with substantial experience handling complex risks and technical policy wordings.
* Technical Qualifications: ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) qualification, demonstrating strong technical knowledge and expertise in liability insurance.
* Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed underwriting decisions. Proficiency in using underwriting software and data analytics tools is essential.
* Attention to Detail: High level of precision in policy wording and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.
* Relationship Management: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
