We’re working with a growing SME in their search for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee commercial projects in the Leinster region. The successful candidate would act as the chief health and safety officer, providing oversight for 3-4 new build and conservation commercial projects in the region of €4m – €7m. The successful candidate would work with company management to ensure overall compliance and to ensure the highest standards of Health & Safety are adopted onsite.
Responsibilities:
1. Conducting regular, formal site audits and carrying out site inspections.
2. Ensuring that a record of statutory inspections is kept for all activities and plant equipment.
3. Delivering and completing statutory notifications to the Health & Safety Authority.
4. Delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new on-site employees / contractors.
5. Organising and chairing site safety meetings.
6. Reviewing sub-contractors’ safety statements and safety compliance.
7. Assisting site management in drafting and communicating method statements.
8. Maintaining and communicating site emergency plans.
9. Conducting preliminary accident investigations and statutory notifications.
10. Ensuring First Aid is available and that all necessary supplies and certificates are maintained.
11. Pursuing improvements in Health & Safety standards and safety management systems.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable.
3. Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction processes and hazards.
4. Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the construction industry.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety requirements and procedures to site personnel.
6. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to sites as needed (Leinster Region).
