Home Care Worker - Castlebar Day Centre, Mayo

A national non-profit organisation, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is person centred, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core. The ASI is currently recruiting for Homecare Workers who will work for our Castlebar Daycentre Services with offices based in Ground Floor Social Services Building, Castle Street, Castlebar, Co. Mayo F23CY6. The successful candidates will work in assigned family homes in Mayo and surrounding areas. This is a permanent contract of employment working 6 hours per week. You would also be required to work relief hours in Daycare and Daycare at Home services if the need arises.
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing person centred care to people with dementia in the client's own home. You will need good communication and organizational skills and be able to work on your own initiative. To be successful in this position it is essential you possess previous experience of undertaking social and cognitive stimulation activities with people with dementia, older people or people with intellectual disabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Full clean driving license and access to a car essential.
2. A FETAC level 5 is desirable.
3. Confidence in using IT/Email is also desirable.
We are offering a competitive salary commensurate with the care sector, and dependent on relevant experience. The role holder must strictly adhere to all National Guidelines laid out in QSPD guidance and be always COVID aware. Training in PPE / Infection Control and other relevant areas will be provided by The ASI prior to the role holder entering a client's home.
