Role Description
The System Security Specialist will help maintain the security and quality of electricity supply on the Distribution System. The System Security Specialist is tasked with planning, documenting, and exercising emergency plans and will work as part of the wider Operations Team with wide-ranging responsibility for System Security across all voltage levels. The successful candidate will be expected to be experienced in risk management and problem identification and have the necessary skills to deliver complex technical solutions. The position will have extensive interactions throughout the business and with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Development of Demand Control emergency plans.
* Emergency exercise management across a range of platforms.
* System risk management progression across the Distribution System.
* Develop a DSO Operational Security Standard (OSS) and liaise with EirGrid on the TSO OSS.
* Liaise with critical customers on system security issues.
* Liaise with EirGrid on key Transmission risks on the system and manage Distribution impact.
* Work with NDCC on critical tools security and Business Continuity Planning.
* Liaise with the wider DSMO team to improve and expand on system security products and provide operational knowledge and guidance where required.
* Investigation, reporting, and follow-up of major faults for NDCC.
* Due diligence investigations on all aspects of system security.
* Fault and operational incident investigation.
* Interaction with EirGrid on system security issues.
* Input into Operational and Asset Management policy.
* Operations briefing and training within ESB Networks.
Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
* Strong knowledge of the Transmission and Distribution systems.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong IT skills and technical capability.
* A willingness to embrace change and work with new technologies and procedures as they emerge.
* Knowledge of network assets and standards, substations, and protection.
* Strong knowledge of existing operational policies, procedures, and Electrical Safety Rules.
Location
ESB Networks, Leopardstown, Dublin.

The successful candidate may combine remote/smart working with the jurisdiction, with attendance at the base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
