About the Role
As a Design Manager at CField, you will report directly to the Technical Director and work closely with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyors on each project. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Managing all drawing issues related to site(s) and coordinating their flow.
* Delivering accurate and coordinated design information from project inception through design development to construction phases.
* Controlling and managing internal resources and external consultants to prepare designs in a timely manner to support project programmes.
You will be expected to conduct your role in accordance with CField's management process and procedures to ensure successful project completion on time, within budget, and to the highest standards, adhering to our stringent health & safety, environmental, and quality protocols.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Familiarize yourself with the form of contract being used and CField's obligations under it.
* Understand and agree upon the design team's scope of services in conjunction with the QS.
* Review and comment on drawings to ensure they are coordinated and meet buildability and commercial requirements.
* Liaise with clients, design teams, and specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
* Identify and propose solutions to any drawing/production problems.
* Develop and manage design programmes and information release schedules.
* E nsure site staff have relevant information in a timely and professional manner.
* Prepare sketch details on site as required.
* Review subcontract tender packages to avoid scope gaps.
* Deal with site queries from staff and subcontractors.
* Support the preparation of comprehensive snag lists for subcontractor works.
* Assist in developing site project programmes and progress reports.
* Represent CField at meetings in a professional capacity.
* Ensure the smooth flow of information between the design and construction teams.
* Support communication between clients, design teams, and subcontractors.
* Attend internal management meetings.
* Ensure site personnel adhere to the highest standards.
* Conduct objective assessments of staff performance and propose training.
* Provide coaching to staff working with or reporting to the Design Manager.
* Promote good work practices regarding health, safety, and welfare management systems.
* Contribute to internal management meetings related to the design process and management systems.
* Manage change control logs and processes.
* Work with the technical team to identify lessons learned.
* Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.
Key Experience
* Degree or diploma in relevant construction-related topics (Architecture/Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering/Services Engineering etc).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
* Primary sectors: Residential Apartments, Student Accommodation, Hotel and Leisure, Offices, Refurbishment, Care Homes, and Housing.
* Project values: €5 to €90 million Design and Build.

About Us
Primarily located in the Cork office (Centre Park Road), with occasional work on site as required. There may be requirements for travel to sites/offices in Ireland and the UK, minimised where possible.
In some cases, on large/multi-sectional projects, the Design Manager may reside on site as part of a larger team; however, most Design Managers will share their skills with multiple sites if required. Some projects may necessitate more than one Design Manager (large, multi-sectional), all reporting to the Technical Director.
