Occupational Therapist – Rehab
We are seeking a dynamic, qualified Agency Occupational Therapist to join a rehabilitation team in a Residential Care Centre. This role involves working alongside a Senior Occupational Therapist in a 15-bed rehabilitation unit, providing high-quality therapy services to adults recovering from various conditions such as strokes, neurological disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and rehabilitation plans, with the goal of improving patient independence, mobility, and quality of life. This is a Monday to Friday position, offering 35 hours of work per week, and the opportunity to make a positive impact on patient outcomes within a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist – Rehab
* Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including physical, cognitive, and environmental factors, to develop personalized care plans.
* Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation services tailored to the individual needs of patients.
* Work collaboratively with the Senior OT and multidisciplinary team to set goals and review patient progress regularly.
* Assist patients in developing, recovering, or maintaining daily living skills, including mobility, self-care, and social activities.
* Educate and train patients and their families/caregivers on techniques to enhance independence and optimize home and work environments.
* Participate in patient discharge planning, ensuring that appropriate recommendations for continued care or follow-up services are made.
* Document patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
* Provide support for senior OT with administrative duties and team meetings as required.
* Maintain a high level of professional development and stay updated with best practice standards and current research.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist – Rehab
* A recognized and relevant qualification in Occupational Therapy (BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent).
* Registration with the relevant professional body.
* Proven experience in providing occupational therapy services within a rehabilitation setting is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of the assessment and rehabilitation needs of individuals with complex conditions such as neurological disorders, strokes, musculoskeletal injuries, or other physical disabilities.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
* A proactive approach to patient care, with a passion for promoting independence and improving quality of life.
