Psychologist required for locum with Irish Prison Service in Dublin.
This is a split position based on two sites, Mountjoy Prison High Support Unit and Cloverhill prison.
The client group includes people who are mentally unwell in prisons, including those awaiting a bed or returning from the National Forensic Mental Health Service as a step down.
About the Role
You will provide specialist input to the multi-disciplinary Care and Management Planning for each person, ensuring recommendations are linked to their formulation.
You will engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions as recommended in the Care and Management Plan.
You will assess and intervene with people referred to the IPS Psychology Service in relation to mental health difficulties, offence-specific needs, and other presentations.
Interventions include a variety of evidence-based group and 1:1 interventions.
Prison-based Psychologists have regular contact with community agencies involved in the support and resettlement of people leaving custody.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist input to the multi-disciplinary Care and Management Planning for each person.
* Engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions.
* Assess and intervene with people referred to the IPS Psychology Service.
* Conduct offence-related risk assessments and prepare Parole Board reports.
* Develop and deliver complex case consultation and risk management work.
Requirements
* Eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI.
* Hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
