Purpose of the role:
The role of the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Acute Floor is to provide the advanced clinical knowledge and expertise to lead, develop and deliver a responsive service to appropriate patients presenting to the Emergency department and acute floor. This role aims to deliver immediate and early specialist management of older adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions presenting to a model 4 hospital. Following early identification, the post-holder will provide senior decision-making, commencing rapid assessment and treatment to support expeditious streaming from the Emergency department to the appropriate clinical care pathway, i.e. acute frailty pathway, acute rehabilitation pathway, outreach recovery pathway, admission avoidance etc.
