HEAnet - ICT Security Training Specialist - Hybrid
HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching in excess of 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.
We are looking for an ICT Security Training Specialist to join our ICT Security Services Team on a permanent basis.
This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the ICT Security Services Team does
The ICT Security Services Team at HEAnet provides a range of essential security services to our clients. Our goal is to offer a standardized set of core services including: security awareness training, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, policy review and development.
These services empower clients to maintain robust information security practices, ensuring the safety of their data and IT systems.
What the ICT Security Training Specialist does
The ICT Security Training Specialist plays a pivotal role in HEAnet’s information security awareness and education programme, which is a key part of our ICT Security Services offering. Reporting to the Security Services Manager, you will work closely with colleagues across HEAnet and with external clients.
Your main goal is to reduce information security risk by ensuring that all ICT Security Services clients understand and follow security policies, applying best practices in their daily operations.
In this role you will be responsible for a broad set of activities including drafting security awareness training content, facilitating security awareness campaigns, scheduling security awareness training sessions, creating timelines and infographics; publications, creating and managing website content, and helping to plan outreach, awareness, and educational events.
Additionally, you will evaluate the effectiveness of training techniques and resources, ensuring that training is delivered in the most impactful way for clients.

We value knowledge-sharing and communication. Each week we have a team meeting to cover outstanding issues and planned work for the week. You will also have a 1:1 meeting every week with your manager. Each month we have a number of presentations from anyone in the company on a wide range of topics from technical demos, and project management to mental health. On different days of the week any team member may be working from home, so we use tools like Microsoft Teams to keep in touch.
We encourage critical thinking and the exploration of new ideas. We often form cross-team special interest groups for specific topic discussions, both ongoing and for fixed projects.

What we need from you
Significant experience in L&D coordination/specialist roles, preferably within the Cyber Security Services field
Proven ability to design and deliver training initiatives/workshops tailored to client needs, focusing on security awareness
Experience in building training plans and programs, aligning policies and process with business objectives
Strong presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior management
A keen eye for continuous improvement and a drive to enhance established training practices
Ability to act as a trusted advisor to our clients in the Cyber Security field
Willingness to support, coordinate, administer and report on training events and activities
Ability to work with and manage eLearning platforms
A team player with a friendly, collaborative approach
Passion for learning and knowledge-sharing
Flexibility to travel to client sites within Ireland as
