Job Description:
Matrix Recruitment is partnering with Ireland's leading Environmental restoration/development body.
We are looking for an Ecologist to join their team and undertake various ecological roles in support of the Environment and Heritage Section.
The role can be based out of several locations in Ireland: Leitrim, Dublin, or Clare, and will involve a hybrid working arrangement with two days on-site per week.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Undertake ecological background research, desk studies, fieldwork, and biological data collection and interpretation to best practice guidelines and methodologies.
* Compile Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitats Directive Assessment reports on the likely impacts of proposed capital and maintenance projects and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
* Commission ecological assessments as required, manage external consultants, and review outputs.
* Support the Environment and Heritage Section in conducting/overseeing environmental and heritage studies.
* Deliver fit-for-purpose project outputs within set deadlines to support the engineering and technical teams in project delivery.
* Prepare habitat maps using GIS software.
* Interact with a range of statutory and non-statutory stakeholders and the public and represent Waterways Ireland on various committees/fora as required.
Requirements:
* A Professional Ecologist.
* Strong knowledge of GIS software.
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Strong communicator, able to liaise with local authorities and government departments.
