Overview:
I am seeking a dynamic and experienced Head/Director/VP of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing technical team in an established Irish company. This contract role will provide strategic leadership and technical guidance across key business functions, focusing on aligning technical and operational teams with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in people management, technical leadership, and operational integration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership and Management: Coach and Develop managers of managers of a team of 60 to 70 technical professionals, ensuring accountability and fostering a collaborative culture across the technical and operational teams.
* Strategic Oversight: Provide strategic leadership to align the software engineering function with the company’s business goals and operational needs. Identify and address key challenges for improvement.
* Tech and Business Alignment: Collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure seamless integration between technical and business functions, particularly in booking and aftersales services.
* Technical Leadership: Lead the development and enhancement of the existing platform, managing technical stacks and their interdependencies with business operations.
* Cultural Change: Drive cultural and behavioral change initiatives, ensuring alignment with company values and promoting innovation within the technical teams.
* Collaboration: Serve as the bridge between technical and business teams, ensuring alignment with retail and operational goals.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Over 10 years in software engineering, with substantial experience in technical management and people management.
* People Management: Proven experience leading large teams and cultivating a high-performance environment.
* Technical Leadership: Strong technical knowledge, with the ability to manage complex tech stacks and integrate them with business operations.
* Problem-Solving and Accountability: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on ownership and accountability.
* Experience in Ireland: Substantial experience in Ireland, understanding local culture and business dynamics.
