Civil/Structural Engineer
I am seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join a well-known and well-loved manufacturing plant in Limerick to join their team-based organisation. This role is ideal for a civil/structural engineer who enjoys being hands-on and has experience working in a manufacturing plant or the construction industry. The Role
1. Collaborates with the project team to agree civil and structural design brief and schedule
2. Prepares concept designs, risk assessments and develops budget estimates for new and existing structures
3. Responds to plant requests for technical support, including structural repairs, strengthening and/or retrofitting projects
4. Carries out structural inspections and reviews existing reports to aid the technical designs associated with repair and/or replacement of structures
5. Develops structural design solutions, details and general arrangement drawings for tender and construction works
6. Enlists the assistance of E/I, Control, or Mechanical engineering support where required
7. Specifies and procures, where required, materials for the project
8. Prepares detailed scopes of work, preliminary health and safety plans to implement the project
9. Liaises with the PSCS and contractors during construction to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective implementation of the structural scopes
10. Reports regularly on project status, schedule and budget.
The person
1. Degree qualified Structural engineer with technically sound knowledge and understanding of structure
2. Must be capable of working on own initiative
3. Excellent communicator and problem solver is essential
4. Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a structural design engineer, capable of examining structures and generating practical solutions to expedite installations
5. Desirable experience: industrial steel building structures, industrial process structures (e.g. steel structures, pipe racks etc)
