Director of Finance Business Partnering
Your role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance Business Partnering (“FBP”) will perform a key strategic role in the leadership of the business, ensuring Aer Lingus meets its business objectives.
S/He will be responsible for leading a team of Finance Business Partners and driving the business in financial performance and management. This includes direct responsibility for budgeting and forecasting across the organisation, producing monthly financial reporting, measuring performance against KPIs, challenging the business and monitoring financial performance, identifying and reporting on savings / cost reductions and productivity improvements. S/He must have strong interpersonal skills.
* Build partnerships and strong relationships with senior stakeholders and their teams across the business and the Group.
* Lead and manage a team of Finance Business Partners to provide financial information, analysis and insight, challenging thinking to enable more informed decisions driving business strategy.
* Develop metrics, tools and reporting to monitor the performance against strategic objectives.
* Lead development and execution of strategic and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, and monitor performance through monthly reviews.
* Manage, prepare and deliver reporting to Aer Lingus Executive on monthly performance and have responsibility for preparing and coordinating material for quarterly briefings to IAG Executive Management team.
* Provide meaningful actionable insights, advice, and recommendations on historic and future financial performance.
* Deliver robust investment cases and support on strategic projects, providing options and scenarios to support decisions.
* Challenge ways of working, conduct market research and benchmarking exercises.
* Drive a culture of cost control, revenue optimisation and productivity / efficiency.
* Drive group-wide optimisation of financial performance (including balance sheet and cash flows) and realisation of targets and KPIs.
* Lead capital approval and investment process, procedures and Governance (business cases; post-investment reviews).
Your qualifications and key criteria
* University degree or equivalent work experience.
* Proven experience in a senior financial role in a large corporate.
* Managed & delivered cross-functional projects and initiatives.
* Recognized professional accounting qualification.
* Familiar with relevant accounting standards / principles (IFRS, IAS).
* Management of relationships across C-suite, Executive and Leadership teams.
* Innovation: bringing a solutions-driven approach, embracing change and ongoing process improvement.
* Communication: setting clear expectations from the outset, tasking others to deliver these while also having the ability to “manage up”.
* Delegation: deploying organisational resources effectively, “letting go” and allowing others to cope and learn directly.
* Cooperation: strong focus on collaboration across as well as within functions.
* Demonstrating the strategic and tactical capability to have an impact on the top and bottom line of the business, balancing short-term results with a sustained push towards turnaround of medium to long-term business performance.
* Ability to lead large improvement initiatives and projects (issue identification, structuring, organisation, follow up etc.).
* Keen analytical ability allowing meaningful review of facts and numbers and ability to couple this to solutions and actions.
* Ability to lead team of Finance professionals and guide, coach, and support to achieve organisational objectives.
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
* Eligible to live and work in the EU.
* Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
* Provide 3 verifiable references.
* Able to pass a 5-year enhanced security background check.
