Occupational Therapist (Psychiatry in Later Life)
The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality, client-centered therapeutic services to older adults experiencing psychiatric illnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including cognitive, physical, and psychosocial evaluations.
* Develop individualized care plans based on client needs, goals, and evidence-based practices.
* D deliver interventions to improve daily living skills, cognitive functioning, and social engagement.
* Promote client recovery through therapeutic activities, environmental adaptations, and caregiver support.
* Monitor and review treatment outcomes, adjusting interventions as necessary.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated care.
* Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service planning discussions.
* Provide training and advice to families and caregivers on supporting clients in their home and community environments.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with HSE standards.
* Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional guidelines, including data protection and confidentiality.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols for the POLL service.
* Participate in audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain knowledge and skills.
* Supervise and support students or junior occupational therapists, as required.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Current CORU registration.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland.
* Experience working with older adults in mental health or a related field.
* Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
