Role Summary
The role of Carpenter offers an excellent opportunity for a strong performer to utilise their woodworking and hand-building skills in a growing industry sector. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures made of wood and other materials, to support the production and dispatch of low voltage switchgear products.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Design, build and maintain materials such as support units and crating, to facilitate both the assembly and shipping of switchgear products.
2. Deliver tasks to a high quality, based on internal drawings, standard operating procedures and verbal instructions.
3. Carry out hands-on fabrication and construction duties as required.
4. Assist in the finishing and packing of products.
5. Support the Production team to determine carpentry requirements needed to support the assembly of particular units.
6. Learn about our products and assist with suitable duties as needed.
7. Regularly inspect and maintain your allocated tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good and safe working condition.
8. Follow established safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
9. Display a continuous improvement mindset, recommending improvements and alternative approaches where applicable.
10. Undertake your work in a professional manner, to a high standard of workmanship and within the time scales required.
11. Support as needed if requested to carry out other duties within the business.
Note: This role involves manual handling including lifting / carrying heavy pieces of material or structures.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a similar working role would be an advantage.
3. A strong aptitude for using hand tools and instruments.
4. Flexibility with regard to working hours (Monday – Sunday).
5. Good work ethic with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
6. A solid appreciation for Health & Safety within the workplace.
7. Have a willingness to learn, and the ability to work as part of a team.
8. Self-motivated with good time keeping and attendance.
9. Preference for fluency in English, both written and verbal.
