Consultant in Respiratory Medicine The full-time consultant physician positions in respiratory and general medicine at Hospital involve supporting a shift in the acute medical model and expanding specialist respiratory services.
Expectations include contributing to the acute take, with the aim of significantly enhancing respiratory services.
As part of this development, there will be a transition towards a respiratory in-reach service with reduced emphasis on acute medicine.
Your role is pivotal in driving positive change for respiratory patient care, with the potential for significant evolution in the role over time.
Main duties of the jobProviding clinical services in respiratory and internal medicine to the local population, including inpatient care, respiratory clinics, and procedures (such as pleural and bronchoscopic procedures).Participating in the development of Respiratory Medicine services.
Contributing to the education of medical undergraduates during placements.
Supporting and delivering teaching and training for junior medical staff, postgraduate training, and nurse training within the unit.
Participating in Department of Medicine meetings.
Ensuring good practice through regular audit and review of incidents with the clinical team, and implementing lessons learned.
Collaborating with directorate clinical governance meetings and contributing to learning from incidents and complaints.
Participating in the on-call medical rota, including acute medical admissions to the emergency units.
Collaborating with all acute physicians involved in the admission of respiratory patients and other specialty colleagues.
