About the Role:
We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our client, a leading civil and engineering company in Ireland.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across projects on-site in Dublin, Wexford, and Wicklow.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Surveying and Setting Out: Conduct site surveys and setting out operations to ensure accurate spatial measurements.
2. Health and Safety Training: Provide training to employees on manual handling, toolbox talks, and safety induction procedures.
3. Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
4. Accident Prevention and Environmental Protection: Approach accident prevention and environmental protection positively, initiating and maintaining effective measures to raise safety, health, and environmental standards.
5. Reporting and Statistical Analysis: Assist in preparing reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to management.
6. Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy Implementation: Implement the company's health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
7. Maintenance of Health & Safety KPIs: Assist in maintaining Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive improvement in related matters.
8. Support to Management: Support management in developing H&S procedures, policies, and programs.
9. Safe and Productive Work Environment: Work as part of the HSQE team to ensure provision of a safe and productive work environment.
10. Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek to improve the standard of Health & Safety within the company management system and on specific sites.
11. Monitoring and Enforcement: Monitor and enforce the implementation of Health & Safety Management System.
12. Hazard Identification and Mitigation: Identify site-specific hazards and address them in site documentation and on-site practices.
13. Communication and Documentation: Ensure clear lines of communication with the H&S Manager and maintain site folders and statutory records.
14. Site Rules Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to site rules by all personnel.
15. Statutory Requirements Compliance: Assist site management to comply with statutory H&S requirements.
16. Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work: Assist the H&S Manager to develop and implement risk assessments and improvements to Safe Systems of Work.
17. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with H&S Manager and Site management to coordinate Safe Systems of Work for all personnel.
18. H&S Auditing and Non-Conformances: Conduct H&S auditing on-site and address non-conformances with site management and contractors.
19. Accident Investigation: Contribute to accident and incident investigation.
Requirements:
1. Driver's License: Possess a full clean driver's license.
2. Experience: Hold 2-3 years of experience in health and safety roles.
3. Industry Experience: Have experience in Civils/Utilities or Construction Build background.
4. Qualifications: A 3rd-level qualification in Health and Safety is desirable.
5. Background: Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) background is desirable.
6. Pressure Management: Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
7. Time Management: Possess time management abilities to meet targets.
8. Communication Skills: Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
9. Integrity and Confidentiality: Demonstrate integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
10. Relationship Building: Strong relationship builder with ability to leverage key relationships across project stakeholders and statutory bodies.
11. Risk Management: Ability to manage risk and implement control measures.
12. Contractor Relationships: Able to work and build strong relationships with contractors from various backgrounds and trades.
