The Role
The NPD Process Technologist reports to the New Product Development Manager and works in conjunction with the New Product Development team, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department.

Key Accountabilities
Innovation
1. Assist in market research on concepts, technologies, new ingredients, packaging & products aimed at strategically moving the business forward.
Sample development, preparation and process trials
1. To liaise with suppliers on sourcing ingredients, packaging and meat raw materials to meet customer briefs including compliance with company Allergen policy.
2. Requesting draft and final specifications and certifying compliance with our Allergen policy.
3. Planning and conducting trial production and ensuring all relevant departments are briefed on requirements to prove concept and production capabilities.
4. Work with operations team to maximise product performance.
5. Maintain and update all trial and project records.
6. Assist in sensory panels to assess product samples.
7. Communicate status of trial production sample completion to the NPD Co-ordinator to inform customers of any delays.
New Product Launches
1. Assist with the introduction of new product lines, product improvements and process improvements.
2. Coordination of sample production for cooking validation trials, shelf life, nutrition & product photography.
3. Organise, scale up and validation of pre-production runs and reporting trial results to relevant departments.
4. Liaising with quality and production departments in relation to new product launches.
5. Supporting the quality manager in completion of production specification forms.
6. Reporting to NPD Manager of launch progress.
7. Completion of product launch documentation.
8. Coordination of product launches on the factory floor in conjunction with the quality department.
Skills And Experience Required
1. Hold a relevant 3rd level qualification in Food Science or related subject.
2. Min 3 years’ experience desirable within new product development.
3. Possess a good understanding of process and factory operations desirably with direct meat experience.
4. Excellent organisational and project management skills.
5. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
6. Proficient IT skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
7. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence and lead teams.
8. Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance with quality standards.
