Senior Physiotherapist
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Physiotherapist to join our Primary Care team, serving the East Galway and North Roscommon regions. This role focuses on providing high-quality, client-centered Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy care in a domiciliary (home-based) setting. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for patients experiencing musculoskeletal issues, aiming to reduce pain, improve mobility, and facilitate independent living.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Physiotherapist
1. Provide high-standard MSK physiotherapy assessments and interventions in patients’ homes, covering a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
2. Design, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices tailored to each patient’s needs.
3. Educate and support patients and caregivers on managing conditions and promoting self-care and independence.
4. Utilize advanced clinical reasoning to manage complex cases, with the ability to make decisions independently and escalate cases as needed.
5. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic and integrated care.
6. Contribute to and participate in case conferences, care planning meetings, and team discussions to ensure continuity and quality of care.
7. Liaise with community services and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
8. Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and ensure adherence to documentation standards.
9. Prepare and deliver reports on patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes as required by service protocols and regulatory bodies.
10. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all relevant data protection regulations and policies.
11. Actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives to improve MSK domiciliary services.
12. Contribute to quality improvement projects, audits, and research initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and service efficiency.
13. Mentor and support junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants, fostering a learning and development-focused environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience of Senior Physiotherapist
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
2. Full registration with CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council) or eligibility to obtain.
3. Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience, with at least 3 years in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Experience in domiciliary or community-based care is a strong advantage.
4. Advanced MSK clinical assessment and treatment skills, clinical reasoning, strong communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
5. A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
