Job Description
RTR Senior Manager Cork
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercialises innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. General Job Requirements:
Reporting to the RTR Director, Global Financial Solutions (GFS), this position will be responsible for the General Ledger accounting for one or more entities within the GFS Cork.
Job duties include:
The development of strong relationships with key stakeholders, in particular with market finance teams globally. Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence diverse audiences.
1. Maintains ledger integrity and ensures financial compliance with the worldwide Controller’s manual and to all applicable laws and regulations
2. Ensure financial records are in compliance with GAAP. Consistently maintains appropriate internal controls and upholds company policies and procedures including Worldwide Controller’s manual
3. Manages, prepares, administers, and directs the accounting close and financial reporting process for the markets within their responsibilities.
4. Responsible for the timely and accurate review of month-end close and accounting transactions; P&L and balance sheet account analysis, review, reconciliation and resolution.
5. The recruitment, retention, motivation, performance management and development of their team
6. Contribute to the strategic focus and lead key priorities of the RTR GFS team
7. Contribution to the definition and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and the establishment of a continuous improvement culture
8. Interacts successfully with internal and external auditors and supports quarter-end, interim and year-end audits by providing timely and accurate data and communication.
9. Coordination of Balance Sheet Reviews with the relevant EMEA Controller and Market Finance Leads for respective Market(s)
10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and different cultures.
11. Responsible for supporting and review of the Statutory Accounting Activities for one or more entities.
12. Review of tax calculations (VAT, Corporation tax) and oversight of related filings
13. Support the monthly operations decks process for one or more entities within the International GFS.
14. Responsibility for Accounting SOX Compliance and controls for all markets within the GFS
15. Contribute to the review of monthly flux reporting packs.
16. Ability to travel is necessary.
Knowledge, experience, competencies:
17. Qualified Chartered Accountant or person with an equivalent accountancy qualification with a fundamental understanding of what it takes to operate within a multi-country RTR environment in a multi-national corporation.
18. The person we seek will ideally have RTR experience in a similar organization operating in several major countries in Europe, with exposure to the United States and in depth knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures in particular revenue recognition and US GAAP as well as knowledge of Irish statutory and tax reporting requirements. Experience leading Parent Entity reporting would be beneficial.

26. Ability to Interacts successfully with non-financial personnel as well as with internal and external auditors
27. This role requires a flexible and adaptable individual, an individual who has strong peripheral vision to allow them to capture accounting related matters in newly established markets and work closely with the outsource providers to ensure local compliance.
28. Working knowledge and experience of Oracle / SAP or similar ERP product would be beneficial
29. Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) required
30. Proven analytical ability and creative problem solving skills.
