Head of Group Sales & Business Development
Our client is an established Irish group of companies operating in the construction & environmental services and materials testing sectors is seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Group Sales & Business Development to lead the next phase of commercial growth.
With steady inbound sales and a strong customer base across construction, infrastructure, and materials manufacturing sectors, the group is now focused on unlocking greater value from existing accounts, improving sales team performance, and building a scalable sales strategy across two interrelated businesses.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director, with a remit to shape and lead the sales strategy across both companies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the sales strategy across all businesses, aligning teams, targets and customer priorities.
* Identify opportunities to grow revenue with existing Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers through cross-selling and solution-based selling.
* Analyse and improve sales processes, systems and tools to increase productivity and performance.
* Collaborate with senior management to define target markets, priority service lines, and commercial opportunities.
* Work closely with marketing to align brand messaging, campaigns, and lead generation with sales objectives.
* Coach, mentor, and develop existing sales staff; build a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
* Monitor sales metrics and forecasts, delivering actionable insights to inform leadership decisions.
* Prepare both businesses for scalable sales growth and succession planning.
About You
* Minimum 7+ years’ experience in B2B sales leadership roles, with a proven track record in the construction, engineering, testing, or industrial services sectors.
* Experience managing or advising multiple sales teams or functions across related business units.
* Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand technical services and articulate value to senior decision-makers.
* A strategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves to execute and deliver.
* Comfortable with CRM systems, sales data analysis, and modern sales techniques.
* Leadership style that empowers others, builds trust, and drives accountability.
