Assistant Financial Controller – Clayton Hotel Cork City
Objective of the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, Assistant Financial Controller will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance function within the hotel. This will include the management of controls and compliance and ensuring reporting is being maintained to a high standard. They should seek to provide business acumen to parties both within and outside the finance function to ensure that risk is mitigated, and opportunity taken.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Commercial Focus
* Reviewing costs and implementing processes where savings can be made.
* Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure understanding of KPIs.
* Review margins and highlight where improvements can be made.
* Preparation and review of weekly revenue and payroll forecasts.
* A prominent & leading involvement in the month end process.
* Champion weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Department.
People Focus
* Support and become a key advisor to both the Financial Controller and the General Manager.
* Assist in writing and implementing training plans and courses for non-financial managers within the hotel.
* Ensure they are approachable and build relationships with the other Heads of Department and staff within the hotel.
Controls and Compliance
* Ensuring all financial controls and procedures across the hotel are robust, sustainable, maintained and updated.
* Internal Audit Reports examination and agree corrective actions.
* Champion the use of technology and more effective and efficient ways of doing business.
Month End
* Prepare the Month end lead schedule.
* Reconcile balance sheet control accounts including accruals and prepayments.
* Income Audit management to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness.
* Manage the collection of debts on a timely basis.
Requirements:
* We are looking for ambitious, confident and professional individual with strong communication, organisational, analytical and management skills.
* The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
* The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part qualified accountant.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
* 2-3 years’ proven experience in an accountancy role.
