Manager Level Responsibilities
At Manager level, you are likely to focus on developing subject matter expertise and achieving through directly managing others.
You may have progressed to this role through your specialist knowledge or with experience across different business areas.
Others will now rely on the skills and experience you have gained and you will need to share your expertise as you take an increased day-to-day responsibility for a portfolio or operational oversight and demonstrate advanced capabilities for the role.
The experience you have gained in Depositary Services can also open the doors of other operational areas, such as risk management, compliance and others, although the usual path at this level is to continue building on your existing specialist knowledge and experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Drive performance through efficient management of individual and team's work by sharing expertise & best practice, planning, setting correct priorities, encouraging collaboration, aligning work in line with the team members' skills and strengths, and delegating where appropriate.
* Identify and develop talent within your team, coach and help them develop their capabilities, including early leadership skills, manage performance, confidently and effectively handle any arising issues.
* Develop an in-depth understanding of client business, manage client portfolios with a high level of integrity, including identifying and anticipating possible problem areas, accurately measure and manage risks by offering solutions, with the overall client needs in mind.
* Act as a primary contact, proactively develop and maintain client relationships by using excellent interpersonal communication skills and implementing a client-centered approach, including identifying or anticipating potential problem areas, accurately measuring potential risks, and adopting remediation plans while offering suitable solutions to satisfy their overall needs.
* Strive for operational excellence, ensuring that all operational aspects of the business are running smoothly despite potential setbacks, perform operational analysis of complex investment structures and coordinate/validate all work delivered by the team to ensure work is performed in line with internal procedures.
* Monitor KPIs for business sustainability and manage client invoicing and timely cash collection to maximize revenue generation and profitability, taking appropriate corrective action, if required.
* Maximize the use of central operations to ensure capacity and foster healthy and productive relationships between internal teams.
* Manage relationships with other service providers in the industry, such as auditors, law firms, banks and central administrators.
* Proactive involvement in or oversight of internal projects, as required (e.g. product development, organizational, technical or technology-related improvements) and proactive communication of these within your business area.
* Always act and take decisions in the best interest of AD, our clients and their investors, and ensure you and the team act in line with and adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements, monitor for changes and ensure they are followed through, as well as internal AD Policies and Procedures (PPDs), Risk and ESG guidelines.
* Consistently embed the Alter Domus values as a guiding principle in all your daily activities, actions and decision-making process.
* Consistent and continuous development of technical knowledge, keeping up-to-date with the relevant industry and regulatory updates, and hone your leadership skills through on-the-job and formal training, and support the Academy initiatives.
Profile
Although there may be additional role-specific requirements, you would generally be expected to have:
* A qualification in Accounting, Finance, Audit or Economics (degree level or equivalent).
* Significant (typically a minimum of 5 years) relevant work experience in the Alternative Investment Industry, such as in Depositary Services, Client Onboarding, or audit of PE/RE companies.
* Good knowledge and understanding of the industry and the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) in particular.
* Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Sound understanding of financial aspects of business, including budgeting, contribution analysis, invoicing and cash collection processes.
* High level of accountability and ownership of work, including enhanced problem-solving skills, result-oriented, yet flexible hands-on approach with a focus on deliverables (both internal and client's).
* Client-centric approach, including focus on sustainable solutions that work both for the client and the business long-term.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build and maintain robust relationships with clients as well as other internal and external stakeholders; fluency in French, German or any other language would be considered as an asset, but not essential.
* Experience in coaching and developing others at junior levels, i.e. Officer and Senior Officer levels.
