Job Description
The dental nurse is responsible for providing excellent service through the efficient management of patients both at reception and in the surgery. The dental nurse/receptionist will work in close partnership with the dental team, take instruction from the dentist and practice manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensuring clinical tests and audits are completed as required on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
* Working closely with the dentist, providing chair-side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient care.
* Ensure that all tasks are fully compliant with the scope of practice as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, and sterile environment according to the practice's health and safety policy and manufacturers' instructions.
* Maintaining adequate stock levels for the smooth running of the practice.
* Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
* Liaising with the reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records.
* Assisting the practice manager in training new members of the clinical support team.
* Handling and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.
Reception Duties:
* Providing excellence in customer service.
* Greeting and registering patients on a day-to-day basis at the reception desk.
* Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment.
* Handling, recording, and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.
* Phone and email management throughout the day.
* Daily cashing up exercise for the practice.
* Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours.
* Supporting clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x-rays etc.
Requirements:
* Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
* Fluent in written and oral English.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet, and mail.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
* At least one year as a dental nurse in a patient-focused industry.
* Recognised dental nurse qualification.
* Familiar with reporting & statistical compilation.
