About The Role
Position: Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisor. Location: Little Island, Cork, Ireland. Employment Type: Full-Time.
Coffey is the Main Civil and Building Works Contractor for the Design and Build of an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant in Little Island in Cork.
Job Description:
1. Safety Management
* Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Health & Safety Plan and associated procedures.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and legal health and safety requirements.
* Conduct regular audits, inspections, and safety walk-throughs to ensure all project activities meet the required health and safety standards.
2. Risk Management
* Identify and assess potential health and safety risks across the project.
* Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure a safe working environment.
* Review and approve site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
3. Training and Communication
* Deliver site inductions and ongoing safety training programs to employees and subcontractors.
* Promote a culture of safety awareness and engagement across the project team.
* Act as a point of contact for all health, safety, and environmental queries.
4. Environmental Oversight
* Ensure compliance with environmental standards, including waste management, emissions controls, and resource sustainability.
* Support the development and monitoring of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
5. Incident Management
* Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring detailed reporting and analysis to prevent recurrence.
6. Client and Stakeholder Collaboration
* Liaise with the client and regulatory bodies on health, safety, and environmental matters.
* Provide regular updates and reports on safety performance and compliance metrics.
About You
7. Skills & Qualifications
* Third Level Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).
* Computer literate.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. High standard of written English is essential.
8. Experience
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role within the civil engineering/construction sector.
* Proven experience in managing safety on large-scale, complex construction projects involving earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, and steel frame buildings.
* Experience with relevant HSQE standards and management systems.
