The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - West Region operate Day Services in County Galway and Roscommon which provide a range of supports to people who require supports during the day. In recent years our Services have evolved from a traditional day services model to one of a dynamic and flexible service which puts a focus on developing meaningful lives and choices for the people we support and placing them as valued participants in the life of their local community.
We continue to develop an individualised model of service to respond to and support adults to achieve their personal outcomes by providing them with more opportunities, choice and flexibility in their lives in line with New Directions and National Policies.
The Day Service Facilitator will support the Team Leaders and the staff in the Services to enhance their skills and develop new ideas and practices. They will support individuals in the Services to be full participating members of their own community and develop new models of Services and supports tailored to the needs of each individual.

It is essential that the successful candidates have a positive attitude, good organisational skills, good interpersonal and communication, networking, analytical skills and the ability to use their own initiative and make appropriate decisions. Location/Travel Base: Based in BOCSI West Region, Woodlands Centre, Renmore, Co. Galway.
Reporting to: Adult West Sector Manager and liaise with the Quality, Enhancement & Development Department and the Day Services Development Forum.
The Role: The role of the Day Services Development Facilitator is to support individuals in the Adult West Sector who cannot easily avail of existing mainstream services to access education/training, work experience, voluntary work, and paid employment in their local communities and work with team leaders and staff members to support the development of quality services in line with the New Directions Policy on Day Services.
They will use a person-centred approach to:
1. Support Service Area Managers, Team Leaders and staff members in the ongoing development of quality services in line with the New Directions Policy.
2. Assist the overall Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - West Region to develop the necessary infrastructure to operate Day Services to provide high quality and responsive experiences and meet all our statutory obligations and reporting requirements.
3. Support initiatives to develop Community Networking and Partnerships in achieving inclusion and valued opportunities for individuals supported by our Services.
4. Support the provision of opportunities for individuals in day services to pursue alternative occupations or training and achieve their personal outcomes.
5. Identify pathways that assist individuals to develop their vocational interests and skills, develop their education and training opportunities, and job readiness to access and maintain paid employment where appropriate; and to develop and identify support which will assist interested individuals to avail of opportunities for self-employment and social enterprises.
6. Support individuals to avail of opportunities to develop positive social roles, and to be a participating member of their local community.
7. The successful candidate as a proactive member of the Team will also ensure that the objectives of this initiative are delivered in an efficient and effective manner and within budget.
Qualifications/Experience:
1. A relevant third level qualification in Health/Social Care Sector e.g. BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies/Social Care/Social work or Nursing qualification (preferably RNID), Adult Guidance, or Community Development.
2. Candidates with a Social Care qualification must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30th November 2025.
3. Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability required.
4. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills so as to effectively share information among team members as necessary and prepare reports to meet deadlines.
5. It is essential that the selected candidate works effectively within a dynamic team environment using a person-centred philosophy and be flexible and adaptable to different working situations in order to respond to the needs of the people supported by our services.
Working Hours: A 39 hour working week based on a 5-day duty roster (Monday - Friday). The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual, which may include evening and/or weekends.
Annual Leave: 23 days per annum.
Remuneration: Department of Health Social Care Leader salary scale (01/10/2024) - €54,699 x 6 increments - €63,877 (Max) per annum.
Tenure: The post is temporary, full-time and pensionable linked on a Specific Purpose basis to a permanent employee's leave up to approximately September 2026.
