MACE William Street, Co. Limerick, are recruiting a Full Time Assistant Manager required for a busy city centre convenience store.
Successful candidates must have previous experience in a management/supervisory role.
SUPERVISORY
* Supervise the activities of the retail sales team on a daily basis and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.
* Ensure high quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times.
* Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
* Supervise the effective induction and training of all employees.
* Communicate sales performance to the team.
* Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high calibre retail sales assistants.
* Assist the store manager in the effective management of Retail Sales Team performance.
OPERATIONS
* Ensure store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
* Maintain housekeeping in the store at an optimum level.
* Co-ordinate in-store sales and promotions.
* Communicate with the retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions.
* Ensure the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to.
* Ensure shelf edge labels are updated on a weekly basis.
* React to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner.
* Ensure customers receive high quality and consistent service at all times.
* Deal with and rectify customer complaints in an effective and pleasant manner.
* Pro-actively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
STOCK MANAGEMENT
* Assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
* Assist the manager in minimising stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
* Ensure food management and waste systems are adhered to by the retail sales team.
* Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customer needs.
* Ensure stock is rotated appropriately to ensure in-date stock is available and to minimise waste through out-of-date stock.
LEGISLATION & SECURITY
* Ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
* Assist the manager as appropriate in matters relating to managing staff ensuring compliance with labour law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
* Ensure potential hazards in the store are identified and reduced or where possible removed/eliminated.
* Work with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly.
GENERAL
* Know and understand company policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented effectively by the retail sales team.
* Achieve targets as agreed with the store manager.
* Escalate issues to the store manager as appropriate.
* Communicate with the store manager on an ongoing basis.
* Deputise as store manager when the store manager is not available.
* Undertake other additional duties as may be assigned by the store manager.
Minimum Requirements
* Previous supervisory experience.
* Fresh food experience.
* Excellent fresh food knowledge.
* Operational knowledge of the retail environment.
* Excellent interpersonal relations.
* An understanding of consumer needs.
* Understanding of labour law, health & safety regulations, HACCP, and consumer law.
* Commercial acumen with the ability to anticipate and react to market changes.
* Committed to continually improving standards.
* Self-motivated & ambitious.
* Computer skills.
