Role Overview
This role requires the Biological Scientist Fermentation to be methodical and proactive. The Biological Scientist - Fermentation will provide specialist fermentation development knowledge and capability.
Deliverables:
* Work within a Biotechnology/Biologics team to define the manufacturing process parameters necessary to achieve optimal production conditions.
* To develop analytical methods to monitor the production process and validation.
* To set-up, operate, monitor and optimise biofermentation and downstream processes.
* Manage the routine maintenance of bioreactors and identifying issues which may impact their performance.
* Design of experiment (DOE) to assess the effect of multiple variables on bioprocess performance and product development.
* Application and development of quality system underpinning activities.
* Sampling and sample analysis/data analysis.
* Media preparation and inventory management.
* Development of technical reports and presentation of data to team members and other stakeholders.
* Negotiation of pricing with suppliers.
* Keeping up with the pulse of technology and innovation in the broad area of Biotechnology, fermentation and downstream processing.

Qualifications:
* BSc in Microbial Biotechnology or closely related with at least 2 years of experience working in fermentation optimisation is essential.
* MSc in Microbial Biotechnology or closely related is preferred.
Experience:
* Experience in working on key fermentation/microbial biotechnology projects will be beneficial.
* Possess excellent computer skills including databases, excel, word and statistical packages.
* Possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), excellent interpersonal and presentation skills as well as being team focused.
* Proven record of attention to detail and work with a sense of urgency yet have the ability to be impartial and objective.
