Job Description
The Resident Medical Officer - Oncology role is a permanent position located at the Radiotherapy Centre Cork. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing quality patient care while maximizing efficiency in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
* Maintain a caring and supportive atmosphere for patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers.
* Complete patient assessments within designated time frames.
* Communicate clinical and treatment information to inpatient staff and referring physicians as needed.
* Assist with scheduling outpatient lab tests, x-rays, scans, etc., as required.
* Maintain high standards of work, adhering to current practices and guidelines.
* Perform related responsibilities such as patient reviews, cannulation, and radiation treatment planning.
* Participate in audits and research as needed or required by the department.
Skill Requirements
* Current registration with the Irish Medical Council.
* Competent clinical and interactive skills with adult and geriatric patients.
* Effective team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ambitious and diligent approach to work.
* Flexible and adaptable attitude towards work.
* Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet short deadlines.
* Completion of mandatory training programs, including Fire Safety, Radiation Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, BCLS, GCP, ICORG PI, and Manual Handling and Patient Movement.
Clinical Duties
Provision of medical services within the scope of the Departmental Policy, including thorough clinical evaluation, careful explanation to patients and family, and collaborative decision-making.
Radiation Treatment Planning
Contouring for the purpose of treatment planning, under supervision by a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, with assistance from Dosimetrist and Physicist support.
Quality Assurance
Participation in Quality Control functions, Management meetings, New Patient Review Meetings, Planning Review Meetings, Morbidity & Mortality Review, Continuous Quality Initiative Meetings, Radiation Safety Committee Meetings, and Hospital Management Meetings.
Education and Research
Participation in Departmental Educational Meetings, Mandatory Clinical and non-Clinical Training, UPMC/D3 e-Rounds, Other education activity to meet statutory rules regarding Professional Competence Assurance, and participation in research within the departmental framework and guidelines.
