Long O Donnell are seeking a Commercial Specialist to join a dynamic team responsible for driving commercial optimisation and operational excellence within the water services sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient resource utilisation, fostering innovation, and delivering value in a critical public utility environment.
Duties:
* Coordination of efficiency program sub-groups involving a diverse range of stakeholders from technical, engineering, operational & financial backgrounds.
* Completion of Value for Money assessments on activities/processes identified by efficiency program sub-groups.
* Compiling, updating, and reporting on an active ‘Register of Opportunities’ for efficiencies interventions generated by each sub-group.
* Reporting and updating the efficiency opportunities
* Proving commercial support to sub-group members in relation to developing fully costed efficiency intervention proposals for consideration/approval.
* Participation in efficiency working groups and reporting on the commercial efficiency interventions developed by the sub-groups.
* Detailed commercial analysis of operational financial data provided in relation to sites/regions to identify any cost outliers. Analysis of data provided to develop unit costings for key activities at an output level.
Requirements:
* Relevant third level qualification e.g. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related area, or relevant experience.
* A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
* Commercial management experience within complex organisations of significant scale. Track record of the delivery of commercial efficiencies would be advantageous.
* Practical understanding of the water/wastewater industry with the ability to interpret technical information relating to operational activities e.g. drawings, specifications etc.
* Strong communication skills with a proven track record of successfully interacting with a diverse range of departments/stakeholders e.g. Finance, Design, Water, Waste, Regional Operations, DBO, Process Optimisation, Technical Operations
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements (from a commercial perspective).
