H&S Advisor - Carlow
Due to continued expansion, our client is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor based in their Carlow Office. This is a full-time role and is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a well-established company working in the water industry. The role may be suited to someone with experience working ideally with service provider/M&E contractor.
Responsibilities:
* Implement the company's health, safety, quality and environmental policy, procedures and management systems.
* Ensure compliance with our Client site’s Health & Safety policies & procedures.
* Maintain the safety management programme in line with the Company’s ISO45001 certification.
* Drafting and communicating Method Statements, Safe Plans of Action and Tool Box Talks.
* Provide advice, guidance and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives and employees.
* Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
* Ensure all accidents and near misses are reported, recorded and investigated and that suitable notification is given to the Client, Company Health & Safety Authority and Insurers as required.
* Compile information and prepare the Safety File at the end of the project.
* Monitor trends and produce statistics for Senior Management.
* Ongoing development and implementation of improved Health and Safety practices, policies and procedures on the site.
* Undertake regular unscheduled Safety audits on the site to ensure compliance with Group policy.
* Ensure all personnel are fully safety trained and competent for the role.
* Undertake and review risk assessments as required.
* Review and assist with sub-contractor Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
* Develop and standardize EHS procedures to ensure consistency and continuous improvement.
* Maintain and assess sub-contractor insurance, safety policies, and method statements.
* Submit weekly reports on EHS activities.
* Advise and support site teams in preparing Safe Plans of Action.
* Promote a strong safety culture and support corporate EHS initiatives.
* Identify risks early and take action to resolve or escalate them.
* Oversee the set up of safety equipment, such as PPE, firefighting tools, and signage on sites.
Requirements:
* Must have at least 5 years’ of relevant experience, working ideally with service provider/M&E contractor. This is not a graduate role or a role for someone learning on the job.
* Must hold a minimum of a Health & Safety Diploma
* Full Clean Drivers Licence
