Field Archaeologist/Site Assistant in Dunboyne and Celbridge
IAC Archaeology has vacancies for Site Assistant positions in Celbridge and Dunboyne. We are looking for candidates who are available immediately for Dunboyne or from February onwards for Celbridge and have a qualification in Archaeology (or equivalent). The duration of the Dunboyne project is approximately 14 to 16 weeks, while the Celbridge project's duration is approximately 8 weeks. For either of these positions, we offer €600 per week, with €110 subsistence per week.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform all general tasks associated with archaeological excavation, including hand excavation, recording, conservation, and interpretation of features and artefacts identified on site.
2. Receive training in recording skills, including scaled drawings, photography, completion of written records, and site registers, taking environmental samples, and registering artefacts.
3. Participate in onsite CPDs provided by our site directors and post-excavation teams (including environmental specialists).
4. Receive other onsite training, such as toolbox talks, to ensure a safe work environment is maintained.
5. Work in a wide range of environments and archaeological contexts to expand your own knowledge and experience.
6. Contribute thoughts on site interpretation.
7. Work with a view to career progression, with additional training or mentorship provided.
All candidates must hold Safepass and Manual Handling certification.
