About the job
Contract: Full Time Permanent.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 7-day liability – Monday to Sunday, Days & Nights.
Salary: €15.38 (days) & €15.79 (nights) progressing to €17.22(days) & €17.38 (nights).
Location: Bray/Wicklow town (Public transport, free car park).
Flexibility and adaptability are core requirements for this role; you must be available to cover a mix of day shifts, night shifts, and weekends across three services in Wicklow.
Your responsibilities
* Support the project/key workers and management in the implementation of operational and strategic goals, including following up on support plan actions and supporting the service user to achieve their goals.
* Build professional relationships of trust with all service users and residents, treating them with dignity and respect.
* Provide therapeutic and diversionary interventions, offering emotional and motivational support, and promoting positive mental health attitudes, self-esteem, and self-respect.
* Liaise with a range of service providers in the voluntary and public sectors (e.g., housing providers, health care professionals, and social welfare) to establish and expand services that meet physical and mental health needs.
* Deliver the personal, professional, and social development programme.
* Assist in managing medication/health regimes, accessing primary and secondary healthcare, liaising with GPs and pharmacists, arranging healthcare appointments, and accompanying clients to appointments.
* Process all incoming inquiries and referrals to accommodation for service users.
* Support service users in liaising with landlords and facilitate their relocation.
* Conduct harm reduction interventions, including overdose prevention and stabilization.
* Complete daily duties, which may include assisting clients with their mental and physical health, addiction issues, ensuring that physical needs such as bathing and washing clothing are met, and maintaining the general upkeep of the building.
* Support the safe and healthy functioning of each building to ensure the safety of service users/residents, including procedures related to fire safety, hazard management, building checks, sharps disposal, and management of challenging behavior.
* Manage complex and challenging behavior and conflict, ensuring residents adhere to accommodation agreements.
* Carry out all administrative duties, including managing petty cash, record keeping (both electronic and paper), filing, and answering queries via phone.
* Ensure consistent handovers, diary entries, incident reports, and follow-ups in accordance with organization policies.
* Ensure services and projects comply with organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines in areas such as fire safety, confidentiality, child protection, data protection, admissions, case management, and disengagement.
* Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by your line manager.
Essential for the role:
* Level 6, 7, or 8 in a relevant field with 6 months of experience in a similar setting (including voluntary work and college placement).
Or
* Level 5 in a relevant field with 12 months of experience in a similar setting (including voluntary work and college placement).
* A passion for helping people.
* Flexibility to work in an agile environment.
* Willingness to learn.
* Experience in carrying out health & safety inspections and audits.
