Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to manage high-priority security projects, software and infrastructure upgrades, and technology currency initiatives. The ideal candidate will excel in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, possess strong analytical and business case development skills, and be capable of triaging new project requests for consideration within the IT portfolio. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, evaluating project feasibility, and preparing lean business cases to support project approval and funding.
Preferred skills:
* Proven ability to assess new project requests and develop concise, persuasive business cases for approval.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Trello) and knowledge of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
* Strong organizational skills with a results-driven, proactive approach to project management.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
* PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification(s) preferred.
* 5+ years of experience in IT project management, with a focus on security, software upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, and tech currency.
* Strong experience in business case development and project portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Triage and Business Case Development:
o Review and prioritize new project requests submitted to the IT portfolio, assessing alignment with organizational objectives and technical feasibility.
o Build lean business cases that outline project objectives, potential benefits, required resources, and estimated costs to support project approval and funding decisions.
o Present business cases and recommendations to senior stakeholders, adapting communication based on the audience.
2. Project Planning and Execution:
o Lead and manage the delivery of security, software upgrade, infrastructure upgrade, and tech currency projects from initiation through completion.
o Develop project plans with detailed timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring projects remain aligned with business goals.
3. Stakeholder Communication and Engagement:
o Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including IT, business leaders, and external partners.
o Facilitate regular communication regarding project progress, risks, and deliverables, tailoring information for different audiences.
4. Risk Management and Problem Resolution:
o Identify and manage risks specific to security, software, and infrastructure upgrades, proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
o Resolve issues quickly and effectively, coordinating with teams and stakeholders to maintain project momentum.
5. Resource and Budget Management:
o Allocate and manage resources efficiently to meet project milestones while optimizing productivity and minimizing costs.
o Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports for stakeholders, ensuring project financials remain within budget.
6. Methodology Application and Process Improvement:
o Apply Agile or Waterfall methodologies based on project requirements, adapting processes to optimize project outcomes.
o Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices to enhance future project efficiency and success.
