Junior Data Scientist – Insurance Operations
We are a growing general insurance company committed to delivering data-driven insights that enhance decision-making across the business. We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data and Analytics team and support data analysis, reporting, and business information processes.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, in-office role based at our Cherrywood (Dublin) office.
As a Data Scientist, you will work closely with actuarial, operational, and business teams to gather, analyse, and interpret data that supports key decision-making across the organization. You will apply data science and statistical techniques to build models, design robust data pipelines, automate reporting, and provide insights that improve processes across various business functions. This role provides a broad range of exposure across operational areas and is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and an interest in the insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain data models that support business and actuarial decision-making.
* Analyse operational, claims, policy, and financial data using statistical and machine learning methods.
* Develop dashboards and reports that translate complex data into clear insights and track key performance metrics.
* Design and support ETL processes to prepare structured, high-quality datasets for analysis.
* Use a variety of tools to automate data processing and improve efficiency across reporting and analysis workflows.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and develop data-driven solutions.
Skills & Experience
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
* Experience in data science, insurance analytics, or financial reporting is a plus.
Skills:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis and modelling.
* Strong SQL skills for data extraction and transformation.
* Experience working with large datasets and applying statistical or machine learning techniques.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively.
