Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing threat to global health with 5M deaths in 2019.
Vaccines reduce bacterial infections and also protect unvaccinated people.
By reducing bacterial infections, and reducing antibiotic use, vaccines are important tools in reducing AMR.
We have developed a proteomic platform to identify vaccine candidates against bacterial infections and are developing an antigen pipeline against several bacterial pathogens classified as WHO Global Priority Pathogens.
Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are critical priority resistance threats with high rates of mortality due to AMR and in the case of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a high burden of neonatal sepsis.
Two separate series of vaccine antigens against K. pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa are at Technology readiness level (TRL) 3.
Fixed Salary: €45,847 per annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
