Position Overview:
Vision Ireland's National Training Centre is seeking a dedicated QQI/ETB Tutor to provide high-quality, accessible education and training for individuals who are blind or have low vision. As part of the Education and Training Board (ETB) network, this role focuses on delivering QQI-accredited courses while ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The tutor will play a key role in equipping learners with essential skills to enhance their independence, confidence, and career prospects.
This position requires strong instructional abilities, a passion for inclusive education, and experience working with learners who require additional supports.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Course Delivery & Instruction
o Develop and deliver QQI-accredited courses in line with ETB and Vision Ireland training objectives.
o Ensure course content meets QQI standards and is tailored to the unique needs of learners with visual impairments.
o Use innovative, accessible, and learner-centered teaching methods, including assistive technologies.
o Provide blended learning options where appropriate, combining in-person and digital instruction.
o Assess individual learning needs and create personalised learning plans.
o Offer one-on-one tutoring and group support as required.
o Foster a positive, inclusive, and empowering learning environment.
o Encourage learner progression towards further education, training, or employment.
2. Accessibility & Assistive Technology
o Develop and provide accessible learning materials, ensuring compatibility with assistive tools (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, and Braille resources).
o Stay updated on assistive technologies and integrate them into teaching practices.
o Collaborate with ETB networks and Vision Ireland to enhance accessibility in education.
3. Assessment & Reporting
o Conduct formative and summative assessments in compliance with QQI guidelines.
o Provide timely and constructive feedback to learners.
o Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
o Prepare reports for Vision Ireland and ETB stakeholders as required.
4. Professional Development & Collaboration
o Stay informed on best practices in inclusive education, disability supports, and adult learning.
o Participate in ETB-led training programs, conferences, and professional development workshops.
o Work collaboratively with ETB representatives, Vision Ireland staff, and external partners to ensure high-quality education and training services.
Qualifications & Requirements
* QQI Level 6 "Train the Trainer" qualification (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience in teaching adult learners, particularly those with disabilities or additional learning needs.
* Familiarity with the ETB and QQI framework, accreditation processes, and reporting requirements.
* Strong understanding of assistive technologies and adaptive teaching methodologies.
* Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on empathy, patience, and inclusivity.
* Passion for supporting individuals with sight loss to achieve their personal and professional goals.
