Project Quantity Surveyor

PE Global is working with a medium-sized construction company to find experienced and skilled Quantity Surveyors for high-performing project teams in Cork.
Reporting to: Commercial Manager / Senior QS
Purpose of Role
Ensure all commercial and contractual commitments are met and value is maximized by performing Quantity Surveying duties on your projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day commercial and contract activities
* Administer contracts, including change management and maintenance of associated registers (Change Order Log)
* Negotiate the best value for subcontract orders
* Participate in managing project budgets, cost plans, and feasibility studies as needed
* Validate and approve sub-contractors' interim applications and final submissions, ensuring compliance with the Construction Contracts Act
* Lead pre-appointment subcontractor meetings to define scope clearly and appoint subcontractors in line with FMC subcontract terms, mitigating contractual risk
* Prepare accurate monthly Cost Value Reports for review with Commercial Managers/Project Managers/Contracts Managers and presentation to the Projects Directors
* Maximize cash flow through timely submission of Monthly Valuations with full and accurate supporting documentation according to the contract
* Negotiate, draft, and submit Final Accounts, including claims for loss and expense, delay and disruption, and time extensions
* Maintain a productive relationship with Design Team professionals and Client representatives throughout the project
* Implement Commercial procedures fully and properly
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics or an equivalent degree recognized by the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland (SCSI) and/or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of various construction industry contracts (RIAI, PWC, JCT, etc.)
* Able to critically evaluate and identify gaps in documentation and commercial opportunities (contracts, drawings, specs, CVR's)
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of construction processes, techniques, and systems
* Demonstrates commercial awareness – market, competition, value for money
* Strong numeracy and report writing skills
* Strong negotiation and conflict management skills, process-oriented with a focus on results
* Strong attention to detail
