Established in 1998, Blakestown Mountview Youth Initiative (BMYI) is a not-for-profit registered charity which is legally constituted as a Company Limited under Guarantee (CLG). Its aim is to support young people and their families in the Dublin 15 area in reaching their full potential. The project adopts a three-strand approach in providing youth, family and educational support through evidence-based programmes to support the well-being and development of young people and their families. BMYI is funded by the HSE, Blanchardstown Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force (BLDATF) and TUSLA Child and Family Agency, and also conducts independent fundraising.
The Role:
BMYI is now seeking to expand its Board of Directors and to recruit a director with relevant Chair experience in a similar organization. All board roles are voluntary, and expectations are as follows:
1. Board members are required to fulfil all legal requirements as Company Directors.
2. You will commit to regularly attending Board meetings which are held 10 times a year plus AGM and may be of in-person (Dublin 15) or remote.
3. You may be required to participate actively in committees and will establish and maintain effective relationships with other Board Members.
4. You will freely contribute your expertise and experience.
The successful candidate will ideally be located in the West Dublin Area but this is not essential.
Responsibilities:
The board is seeking a director with HR experience to take the place of the existing HR expert whose tenure has now expired. The successful candidate will require experience and expertise in best practice in HR management (ideally but not necessarily in the not-for-profit sector) and will be required to mentor and advise the Charity's management and board on HR related issues.
